Steadicopter was created in 1999 from a company established by the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa, and revealed the first version of a helicopter UAV in 2004. It was then known as the STD-5 Helivision, and wasdescribed as a technology demonstrator. A larger and heavier developed version is called the Black Eagle 50. . The system can be adapted to any size and type of hovering platform, and can therefore provide solutions to a wide variety of applications and requirements.It was planned to optimise the system for urban warfare, anti-terrorist operations and search and rescue, although other military and civil applications are also foreseen. Initial marketing efforts were directed at media, agricultural and military applications, high-voltage line inspection and law enforcement surveillance; other civil applications could include environmental monitoring.
